Student Assignment: Build a Reliquary

Описание: With COVID-19 running rampant and so many people having to stay home I decided to merge two aspects of my life. Making content for this channel, and teaching my students. Since January I have been teaching a Jewelery/Metalsmithing corse at Wayne State University in Detroit. Since we have to switch all classes on-line this seemed like a perfect way to get information to them and out to all of you at the same time.

The assignment is to pick an item that has special meaning to you and build a reliquary to both contain and display that item. It can be built out of whatever you want, whether it be wood, metal, plastic, cardboard, or even things you dug out of the trash can. I want people to be creative with this.

If you are not too sure what a reliquary is I have put together a google slides image presentation with several examples. In this presentation you will find historical examples, more modern interpretations, as well as examples made by my students when I assigned this project as a Grad Student.

I want to stress that this project is for everyone! If you need a distraction from your hours stuck at home or you simply think this might be fun to do, please do it. The students will have until 4/15/2020 to complete and submit images of their creations.
