There are many holsters out there and some are more suited for IPSC competition than others. Many new shooters show up to their first match wearing a regular leather or 511 belt with regular range use or conceal carry mag pouches and holsters. Furthermore, their holsters have active locking systems. To be truly competitive, if that is your goal, it's best to use a competition type holster.

I introduce and give an overview of a number of holsters: USA / SLB, Blade Tech, Ghost, and CR Speed. All have their pros and cons. Like pistols, holsters are very much a personal preference / choice. Not all equipment is the same and some have more features than others which could give you the competitive edge you are looking for. So, you need to inform yourself on the various holsters that are available so that you spend your money wisely. You won't be happy to buy a $200 speed holster only to find out that you don't like particular features, the locking mechanism isn't that good or that it doesn't fit your gun perfectly. Or more importantly, that you are simply NOT comfortable using it. Now, you have to spend more money on another type of holster and you may not be able sell and recoup all your money on that expensive race / speed holster you bought.

Hopefully, this video will help new shooters and for that matter more experience shooters who are looking to upgrade their equipment.
