I had to return to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a wound dressing check at Menara Timur — and I completely underestimated how challenging it would be.
Using only one leg and a zimmer frame, I made my way down from my condo on a hot Kuala Lumpur morning, already drenched in sweat before even calling a Grab. I planned to get a wheelchair at Menara Selatan, but none were available. That meant walking hundreds of metres on one leg, post-surgery, just to reach the department… and then all the way back again.
When the doctors removed my dressing, I saw my foot without my big toe for the first time. The stitches where my toe used to be were shocking — it honestly looked like something out of Frankenstein’s monster. It was a raw, emotional moment I wasn’t prepared for.
And the journey didn’t end there. On the way home, I had to do grocery shopping because I had no food left at my condo. Balancing recovery, mobility struggles, and basic daily tasks felt overwhelming — but somehow, I made it through.
This is the reality of life after toe amputation surgery — the physical pain, the emotional shock, the unexpected obstacles, and the small victories that feel huge.

I visit places in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, some known, some off the beaten path. Towns, parks, nature, buildings, and whatever that is interesting to me. I will be including other places in Malaysia soon, but for now, I'm exploring all I can closer to home. I am 66 (as of 2025) and intend to explore this world in my third lifetime.
Oh, I also post vids from my travels abroad....
