Learn how to make the perfectly Crispy Potato Cutlets (also known as Aloo Cutlets or Aloo Tikki) at home! These are crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and make the ultimate tea-time snack for 2026. This quick recipe uses simple pantry ingredients and includes tips to ensure your cutlets never break while frying.
Ingredients:
4-5 Boiled & mashed potatoes
1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (for binding and coating)
1 small Onion, finely chopped
1-2 Green chillies, chopped
Spices: 1 tsp Red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp Cumin powder, 1/2 tsp Garam masala, 1/2 tsp Chaat masala, Salt to taste
2 tbsp Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
2 tbsp Cornflour (for slurry)
Oil for shallow or deep frying
Steps to Follow:
Prep: Mash the boiled potatoes in a large bowl. Ensure they are completely cool to prevent sogginess.
Mix: Add chopped onions, chillies, coriander, and all dry spices. Mix well.
Bind: Add breadcrumbs or cornflour to the mixture to help it hold its shape.
Shape: Grease your palms with oil and shape the mixture into round or oval patties.
Coat: Dip each cutlet into a thin cornflour slurry, then roll it in breadcrumbs for a perfect crunch.
Fry: Shallow fry on medium heat until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
Serve: Enjoy hot with green chutney or tomato Ketchup
