Did you know we can learn about the thyroid from mineral testing?

Описание: One of the main reasons I personally got into mineral testing was because I had all the symptoms of thyroid dysfunction, but my lab results were only slightly out of functional range and completely ‘normal’ by conventional standards.

This left me with no help from my doctor and confusion around how to restore proper thyroid function. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

I was also struggling with symptoms of low thyroid, specifically weight gain, fatigue, hair loss, and feeling cold all of the time, so it was super frustrating seeing ‘normal’ bloodwork when I knew something was off in my body.
⁣⁣
Eventually, I learned about how minerals can impact thyroid function, which lead me to the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA).

When the Calcium to Potassium (Ca/K) ratio is high on an HTMA test, I often see clients struggling with hypothyroid symptoms:

weight gain
fatigue
dry skin
hair loss
brain fog
constipation
puffy face
feeling cold

95% of calcium is in the bones and teeth. When calcium starts to move to out of the bones and teeth it causes problems. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣The main issue being that calcium binds to iodine receptors and impacts thyroid hormone. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

When we see high calcium on HTMA tests, it means calcium isn’t where it should be (in the bones and teeth) and is leaving through your hair, which is showing us that it’s likely binding to iodine receptors and slowing down your thyroid function. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Potassium is another important piece of the puzzle because it’s associated with the sensitivity of the tissues to the thyroid hormone. When we don’t have enough potassium, it can also impair thyroid function. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣The daily requirement for potassium is 4,600mg and most women don’t come anywhere near this amount!!

Calcium and potassium are important minerals for assessing thyroid function. When they are out of range, you can use minerals to help your thyroid work more optimally... your thyroid meds will likely work better too!
