Analysis:
Ding Feng's weapon is indeed an interesting one. It requires precise timing to make the weapon worthwhile using. While it requires timing, it's not all that strict. When timed properly, his weapon consists of multiple elemental activations, capable of shredding any officer within range.
C5 is his renowned charge attack for his elemental activation. It consists of plethora of activation while being invincible during the 'gearing' animation of C5. Very rewarding and best used against officers that are strong against his weapon. This will guarantee a full-hit while being able to amp the grounded physical damage. I've found, in my experience to setup C5 'safer' without (Musou Aerial) is to JA multiple times to get into a crowd, forcing enemies around the vicinity to block, then proceed to C5.
The EX from the C5 has decent damage while being unblockable. Very nice to scatter unwanted crowds that are near him. Be careful through, his EX cannot be cancelled through any means except through using Musou.
C2 is, in my opinion, most consistent elemental charge against officers when Ding Feng is strong or neutral against enemy officer's affinities. It lures and baits enemies to block and therefore, Cyclone will do it's job. C2 has interruption problems during activation, but C5 shares the same problem as well for being a later charge, making it difficult to get to without being interrupted beforehand. C2 is his best early charge for fast kills.
C2 and C5 are all combo charge attacks, meaning they refill Ding Feng's Musou and Rage very well. C2 has good front crowd control if there are enough present, capable of bouncing Explosive collateral like crazy. C2 also has officer priority auto-lock, which is very useful to pinpoint officers. C6 is nice to use to scatter enemies around him, but most of the time he would use Musou II or better yet, his Switch Attack to get out of the situations safer.
Ding Feng's Musou II hurts like hell even without a Musou weapon. A full-hit (grab) from Musou weapon will definitely guarantee double defense generic's a death sentence while dealing 50~60% of damage to hyper officers. Though, the best way of dispatching hyper officer is through elemental charges, so Musou is out of the question and best used for other means.
Musou II, in my opinon, is most rewarding using the miss grab version. It automatically transitions him into the last hit, which is unblockable while doing devastating damage to everything in the vicinity. His Musou is already downright overpowered and capable of OHKO non-playable generics without Musou weapon without the needless grab. During pileup, regardless if they are hyper officers or not, Ding Feng will want to switch into "Musou" mode/weapon. Ding Feng's goal with Musou II is to purposefully miss and deal the final blow only. This will OHKO all generics and inflict 50~60% to all hyper officers, possibly even more with Flurry. In a crowd, his Musou II (miss grab) can fill a decent, 10~20% amount of Rage without Triumph, which is very interesting because it's not a combo Musou.
Musou Aerial is a good defensive maneuver to setup his elemental charge attacks for offense, it's also unblockable. However, Musou Aerial is very useful to lock a small crowd of enemies for utility purposes. During the lock, Ding Feng can perform a C5 on the dead bodies to replenish his Rage rapidly (at 12:09).
Overall, Ding Feng is very solid, capable of handling virtually, any scenarios very comfortably with elemental and Musou because he excels in both so well. He also fills and maintain his Musou and Rage very well. His only problem are the interruptions. He is very prone to it and that really hinders his elemental performance. Unfortunately, being a Whirlwind-type character doesn't have too much benefit in this game because the whirlwind is so small. Then again, Ding Feng is just too big ...
Liao Hua, Lei Tong, Wang Ping, Huang Zhong, Zhou Tai and Lu Su are all hyper officers in this stage.
