"In the first age, before calendars were carved and before names were fixed in stone, there was a child born beneath a Full Moon so bright it bleached the night pale as bone. The elders said the Moon paused when the child cried, as if listening. They wrapped the infant in silver cloth and called him Child of the Moon.

By day, he grew as any child would. His bones lengthened, his voice deepened, his hands learned the weight of tools and promises. He became a man of quiet strength, known for his steady gaze and his patience with things that took time: trees, rivers, grief. Yet the elders watched him carefully, for they remembered the night of his birth.

On the first Full Moon after his manhood settled, something ancient stirred. As the Moon climbed the sky, round and whole, the man felt his breath change. His shoulders softened. The years loosened their grip. When the moonlight touched his skin, he became a child once more - small, barefoot, eyes wide with wonder, untouched by memory of burden or regret.

By dawn, he was a man again.

So it was, every Full Moon.

At first, he feared it. He hid himself when the Moon grew heavy and bright, retreating into caves and forests so no one would see the truth. But children are not meant for hiding. The Moon-child wandered. He laughed with foxes. He spoke to water. He remembered things the man had forgotten — how to listen without answering, how to trust the dark, how to belong to the world without owning it.

As years passed, the village noticed something strange. The man did not harden with age. His eyes never dulled. His judgments were gentle. When conflict arose, he settled it not with force, but with clarity that felt older than wisdom.

One winter, the village faced great loss. Crops failed. Illness spread. The people argued, each certain of their own fear. On the night of the Full Moon, the Moon-child did not hide.

He walked into the open square as the Moon rose.

Before their eyes, the change unfolded. The man became a child, luminous and unafraid. The villagers gasped, but the child only smiled and sat upon the cold ground.

“Why do you return to childhood?” the people asked, trembling.

The child answered simply, “So I remember what matters.”

He touched the Earth. He listened to the wind. He looked at each person as if seeing them for the first time, and loving them anyway. The fear in the village loosened. People remembered how to share. How to wait. How to hope.

By morning, the child was a man again. The village endured.

When the man grew old , older than anyone could recall, he did not weaken.
On the final Full Moon of his life, he walked once more beneath the open sky. This time, when the Moon completed her climb, he became a child and did not change back.

At dawn, there were no footprints. Only a softness in the air, and a Moon that seemed just a little closer to the earth.

The elders say he lives there now, running along the Moon’s bright fields, returning to the world in every full glow, reminding those who watch that growing older is not the same as growing distant, and that wisdom is simply childhood remembered at the right time.

And so, when the Moon is full and the night feels tender, some say they hear a child’s laughter carried on the light , the Child of the Moon, keeping the world from forgetting itself..."
