Описание: The history of special education and inclusion in India shows a gradual shift from segregation to inclusion. Before Independence, education for children with disabilities was provided mainly by missionaries through separate special schools. After 1950, constitutional provisions like Articles 41 and 45 recognized state responsibility. The Integrated Education for Disabled Children (IEDC) scheme (1974) promoted integration in regular schools. The National Policy on Education (1986) supported integration. The PWD Act (1995), SSA (2001) with its “zero rejection policy,” and the RTE Act (2009) strengthened access. The RPwD Act (2016) and NEP 2020 further emphasised inclusive and equitable education for all.
