US capture of Maduro ignites global divide

After the U.S. government deposed and arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday, Venezuela’s Supreme Court has ordered Vice President Delcy Rodriguez to become the nation’s interim leader.
Despite the ruling, U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters that his administration would “run” Venezuela until they can perform a “safe, proper and judicious transition” of government.
Maduro and his wife were captured early Saturday during a large-scale U.S. military strike in Caracas. The couple has been indicted on multiple charges in New York, including narco-terrorism conspiracy.
Across the globe, many are questioning the legality of Trump’s supposed takeover, as well as his plans to “fix” and control Venezuela’s oil reserves.
Meanwhile, masses of Venezuelan expats are celebrating what they believe to be the end of the socialist regime that pushed them out of their homeland in the first place.
