Sidney Jones is director of the Institute for Policy Analysis of Conflict in Jakarta.
She is a renowned expert on conflict and extremism in Southeast Asia, particularly Islamic terrorist movements in Indonesia. She writes reports on Jemaah Islamiyah and its operations in Indonesia and the Philippines and issues of security sector reform and decentralization in Indonesia. She is the author of Making Money Off Migrants: The Indonesian Exodus to Malaysia (2000) and has contributed to numerous media outlets.
