What Actually Happened? (The Facts):
On February 25, 2026, Kerala Health Minister Veena George was allegedly injured during a black-flag protest organized by Kerala Students Union (KSU) and Youth Congress activists at the Kannur Railway Station. The protest was sparked by allegations of medical negligence in state hospitals.
Following a scuffle, the Minister was admitted to the ICU at Kannur District Hospital citing severe neck and hand injuries, leading to cancelled travel plans and a massive political showdown.
The Political Divide:
🔴 LDF / CPI(M) Stance: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI(M) leaders have condemned the incident as "organised hooliganism" and a deliberate, pre-planned attempt on the Minister's life by the Congress leadership.
🔵 UDF / Congress Stance: The Opposition has entirely denied the physical assault, calling it a "political drama" to divert attention from the Health Department's lapses. Congress leaders point to the lack of visual evidence of an attack and have heavily criticized the Minister for taking smiling selfies while supposedly in severe ICU care.
