This was filmed in Dudley, West Midlands and I'd like to say a huge thanks to both Nigel and Elaine. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself in front of a camera and show the world what you do. Nigel was under enough pressure already as you'll hear about in the briefing at the end.

These always look different when watched back on video. This is as close as you can get to taking a standards check yourself but you don't feel the atmosphere, you can't see all around and it's not the same as actually being there and doing it yourself.

It's often difficult to judge the outcome of a standards check as we mention at the end of the video. A lesson you thought was great can fail and what can seem like an average or poor lesson can result in a pass.

This is all down to how the test is marked, it's not as simple as asking whether it was a good or bad lesson. The route, your approach to the pupil, teaching methods, style of questioning and many other things all contribute towards your grade.
