Uttanasana, a standing forward fold taught in yoga classes is being cued completely backwards. Due to the shape of the thigh bone and hip socket, if you stand with feet together and spin the thighs IN, your chances of hip impingement are way higher. Additionally, using this yoga pose as flexibility training only weakens the back, or "superficial back line". The anatomy of this pose changes the movement if we listen. Knowledge is power.
