About Chapila Maach:

Indian river shad (Chapila Maach) is sweet water fish. It's nice to taste. Often it tastes like Hilsa! Very popular fish in India and Bangladesh. It's commonly known as Chapila in Bangladesh and Khoira in India.

Ingredients:
Chapila Maach (Indian River Shad Fish)- 200gm
Mustard seeds- 3 tsp
Green chilli- 2
Black cumin seed -1/2 tsp
Salt-2 tsp
Mustard oil- 7 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp

Procedure:
1. After cleaning the fishes, make a fine paste of the mustard seeds and green chilli using pestle and mortar/ mixer grinder.
2. Heat 4 tsp of mustard oil. Marinate the fishes with 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder and fry the fishes by batch on medium flame.
3. Remove and keep aside.
4. Add 1 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tbsp of water in the mustard paste and mix well.
5. Heat 3 tsp of oil. Add 1/2 tsp of black cumin seed and the paste.
6. Add 1 bowl of water and the fried fishes.
7. Add slitted green chilli and let it to boil for 1-2 minutes.
8. Do not overcook so that the taste of mustard will get bitter.
9. Sorshe Chapila is ready to serve.
