Background:
Here we have space pirates, marauders, bounty hunters, or what have you, set on far off distant worlds, hunting and killing for treasure. It's not a new theme, humans are willing to go to great lengths to possess riches, wherever they are. This object is of an ancient and cosmic origin, and no doubt unimaginably valuable. What it is doesn't matter, all that matters is that there are those willing to kill for it. The locations in the story are meant to represent a mental space as much as a physical one.

This is a little project I've actually been sitting on for almost 2.5 years now. It originally started as random little tests and ideas that I wanted to try out. So this really wasn't a planned or scripted thing. As I shot more pieces of this I decided to try tying it all together in a short. I think in some ways it worked and some ways it didn't. I've shot maybe dozens of similar short projects that I've never released and likely never will, so it feels good to get something "finished" and released regardless of whether it's perfect or not. I don't think it's entirely clear in the short, but there are two characters, one who originally has the box/space treasure, and another who is in pursuit- the eventual shooter, who then claims the prize. The shots of the second character are actually scenes I shot years earlier, and having limited costume options they both have the same hand wear. Which I think is confusing because they look like they could be the same person. One of the results of improvising everything and having a long period of time between shoots. Had this been a planned shoot or if I were to shoot it again, I'd give one of them gloves or something. This is also a loose tie in to another short on my channel "Unturned". One last little fun fact about this short is that all the sound was foley or done in post. I generally don't record audio for things like this, especially since there's no dialogue, because I feel I can get much better sound design just doing it in post. The down side is it takes forever.
