Blinding Sun (US) - The Magic Mountain (Album 2021)

Описание: Blinding Sun's 4th release, and the perfect follow up to the previous three demo tapes.

A project that doesn't cease to inspire and evolve. The betterment of Blinding Sun's sound and concept was clear throughout the span of his demos, however "The Magic Mountain" really brings this artist's writing and conceptual depth into a different level.

Both conceptually and audially based around Thomas Mann’s novel of the same name, the narrative of this album, like Mann's work, deals with subjects of illness and death, the perception of infinitude of time and simultaneously the imminent end that we all face and witness. As perfectly phrased by the artist, "This is exhausted music intended for loud speakers, glazed eyes, and stale tobacco consumption.". In fact the uncanny but beautiful melodic sensivity here portrayed, heightened by the ever dystopic dual guitar work makes this record perfect for rainy days, contemplating the outside with gleary, lifeless eyes, engulfed in lethargy and drowse.

The music itself remains idiosyncratic, not following any canons nor rules. While being undoubtedly Black Metal, Blinding Sun keeps bending the genre with melodies that resemble Post-Punk or Shoegaze's most mournful melodies while incorporating a series of other influences whose presence is not easy to grasp. Always feverish and ecstatic in it's negativism, Blinding Sun still opens space for some shards of light and hope to penetrate through the funereal fog, showing that even in this futile existence there are moments of solace.
