The final stage against Shu. This is one of my favorite stages in the game and the one that feels most like a finale with how long it is and how much goes on. On Wei's side, you can get Wei Yan to defect if you don't approach him and take over Luo Castle quickly enough. And Sima Yi is still alive, but Wei Yan is the only one that would kill him anyways. Take too long, and Wei Yan will just charge you.
Recruiting Wei Yan also lets him discover a secret path once he gets close to the mine path behind him, which your army will happily take to get past them. The game doesn't make it clear that it's Wei Yan's troops getting close to the path that triggers this event though, but it makes sense.
The flames on Cao Cao's cape in his 3rd/4th outfits make him go faster.
