Put this quaint city on your Belgium bucket list 🗺️ Go beyond Bruges and Ghent and visit Mons!

Описание: I didn’t expect this city to be so cute.

When I started the challenge to visit 12 places in 12 months in Belgium, I was hoping to discover new gems and to get to know the country I live in better.

Last month, I did the first trip of many and visited Mons in the Walloon region for their annual festival of lights. I went in time to have a walk during day light hours and fell in love with this cute city 🥰

In Belgium, most people visit the Flemish cities of Bruges or Ghent and the region of Wallonia is slightly neglected by non-Belgians. If someone ventures to Wallonia, then mainly to Dinant. Mons is definitely not on the map 🗺️ BUT it should be in my opinion 😜

The town has a historical core, multiple impressive sights (including UNESCO heritage), museums, folklore and if you venture outside of the city centre, you can even learn something about the regions mining history. I should definitely come back in summer and with more then a few hours 😇
