Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, speaking at the annual symposium of the Indian Forum for Quality Management (IFQM), highlighted India’s strong push towards AI-driven innovation, skilling, and quality management.

🔹 She revealed that the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) has opened new doors for collaboration in quality certification and training, with Singapore offering support in knowledge sharing.

🔹 Sitharaman announced that the government has identified Institutes of Excellence for AI research, training, and R&D, focusing on four key areas: agriculture, education, health, and urban living, while NITI Aayog recently added space and nuclear technology as the fifth pillar. These centers will attract young AI talent and provide specialized training and innovation opportunities.

🔹 On skilling India’s workforce, she stressed that every budget over the last 2–3 years has made provisions for training, upskilling, and modernization. A new hub-and-spoke model for ITIs is being developed to upgrade district-level institutions into AI-driven training centers, ensuring they remain relevant to the fast-changing industry landscape.

With an emphasis on youth empowerment, institutional upgrading, and global collaboration, Sitharaman underlined that India is preparing its next generation for the AI revolution while maintaining focus on quality management and productivity improvement.
