Turtle Wax ICE Shine Lock Sealant - Review

Описание: This is a review and water test for the new Turtle Wax ICE Shine Lock Sealant for 2015. I picked this up at Walmart for just under $15. With only 4oz of product in the bottle, that's a much higher price per ounce compared to most of the other over the counter products, but if the actual protection claims are true then applying a sealant like this shouldn't be something that you have to perform often.

Turtle Wax advertises this as a wipe on, walk away application. Meaning there is nothing that hazes or dries over leaving a visible area that has to be buffed. That being said, I recommend that you still go over the car with a clean microfiber to make sure that any areas where it may have been over-applied are taken care of. You will feel some noticeable resistance through the towel in those areas, but it still buffs off easily and I did not see streaking or smearing when observing the paint in the sun. This product flashes very quickly, you will see a trail of product that will disappear almost immediately after spreading it on to the paint. It can be hard to determine where you've applied it, or if you've gotten full coverage, so break down your application sections into smaller ones and reapply as needed. I would like to see a slightly longer dwell time before it flashes over so you're not left guessing if you've gotten full coverage.

Everything on the paint prior to application for the water test was removed using Meguiar's M205, followed up by an IPA wipedown. This car has already been thoroughly clayed before I test any of the products I use. Again, you will get the best results out of any sealant, wax, or spray wax that you use if you've removed the bonded contaminants from the paint that aren't removed during the regular wash and rinse process. I recommend that the vehicle be clayed about twice a year. The comparison product is again Turtle Wax ICE Liquid Wax. Both products were allowed a 24 hour cure period before being put through the water test. If you are getting different results with your water test, please let me know in the comments below.
