Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2021 Nissan Rogue, we're gonna be showing you how to install the etrailer.com class three trailer hitch receiver. But before we do that, why don't you check it out and make sure that this is the right hitch for you. Putting a hitch on your Rogue is a really good to kinda open up your opportunities and what you can actually use your Nissan for. These are pretty versatile SUVs and people got a lot of different plans on what they're trying to do with it. And having a hitch back here is gonna allow you to pull a trailer or use different types of accessories.
So having one back here is gonna allow you to get your goals accomplish. With that said, kind of my first thoughts on this seeing it on the back of the road, I think it looks pretty good, actually. It does a pretty good job of blending in. Really the only thing you can see is the receiver tube opening here. And I actually have seen all the 2-inch hitches on a Rogue.
And honestly, I think as far as the appearance goes, I'd probably lean the most towards this one. And really that's because of the finish. The other hitches, essentially all look pretty close, but this finished kinda sells me. It's kinda like a matte black carbide tight finish. And so whenever you're looking at it, it kinda matches the plastic here down at the bumper.
And so it does a pretty good job of kinda blending in and almost looking like a factory option. I do wanna address one of the big questions that we get asked quite a bit. And that is if you put a hitch on the back of your road, is it going to interfere with the hands-free lift gate assist feature And the answer is no. Unfortunately, our model here today isn't equipped with that feature, so I can't show you. But I do know from past experience, it's gonna work.
The only thing you're gonna have to do different is just kick your foot to either side of the hitch and everything will operate just like it should. Also have several people ask about this too, and it's definitely understandable. So nowadays, it seems like every vehicle has quite a few different submodels. From the base model all the way up to the top tier, the fully loaded one. And we had some people asking if this hitch is gonna work with different submodels. And in this case, it does not matter what submodel you have, the hitch is gonna bolt up and work like you'd expect it to. Since this is a class three hitch, it is gonna have that 2-inch by 2-inch receiver tube opening. So really common size and a ton of different accessories will work with it. At the end of the receiver tube, it's gonna be reinforced for a little bit of extra support and it is going to use that standard 5/8 pin and clip. Now keep in mind, pin and clip don't come with it. If you need one, not a huge deal. You can always grab it right here at etrailer. And the safety chain openings, they're gonna be a loop style. They're gonna be nice and thick. And these are going to allow you use just about any size hook that you might have . As far as the hitch's weight capacities go, it's gonna have a 525-pound maximum gross tongue weight rating. And that's gonna be the amount of weight that's pushing down on the hitch. So pretty high number. You'll be able to use just about any size bike rack or cargo carrier that you'd want to, for example. As far as hitch's maximum gross trailer weight rating goes, that's gonna be 3,500 pounds. And that's gonna be the amount of weight that is pulling on the hitch. So that's the weight of your trailer plus anything that you might have on it. I do always like to suggest, though, not a bad idea just to grab your Nissan's owner's manual. That way, you can make sure your Rogue can pull that much weight safely. And with that in mind, if you're gonna be pulling a trailer, you are gonna want the lights to work on it. That way, people know what's going on and you'll be safe and legal. And to accomplish that, you can always grab some trailer wiring. Now let's go ahead and just grab a couple of measurements. So that way, we can try to figure out which hitch mounted accessories would work best. If you go from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening, that's gonna be about 11-3/4 of an inch. So if you're planning on pulling on a trailer, chances are pretty good. You're gonna have to grab a ball mount that has a rise and its shank. If you go from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edg
