LACROIX MAKES SURE HIS COLLECTION IS READY TO WEAR
Cult French designer Christian Lacroix showed his latest ready-to-wear collection on Wednesday (28FEB07) as part of Paris Fashion week.
The 56-year-old designer, who celebrates the 20th anniversary of his house this year, spoke to AP Entertainment before the show about the importance of not losing sight of what really is "ready to wear."
"I wanted the collection to be really rooted in ready-to-wear and not haute couture," he said, "haute couture is couture and at a period when we are starting to divide up the state of the market with a new product I wanted to be fair with customers and wanted to show on the runway exactly what will be in the stores."
Fashion stores can look forward to a collection that was very much aimed at the younger market with slim satin suits and jackets with corset belts.
Short satin dresses rouched at the waist were coupled with studded leather arm bands which were reminiscent of a 1980's Madonna outfit. But black was the order of the day giving the entire collection that rock-chick feel.
Paris fashion week, the last date on the international designer catwalk calendar, continues until the weekend.
