Описание: Former Member of Parliament Prajwal Rewanna has been convicted in a rape case involving a domestic worker who worked in his household. The case, which came to light in April 2024, was based on a complaint that he had raped the woman at his farmhouse during COVID and recorded the act. The investigation was conducted by a CID Special Investigation Team (SIT), which filed a charge sheet of nearly 2000 pages. According to a reporter inside the courtroom, “as soon as he heard the news of his conviction… he broke down”. This is one of at least four rape cases filed against Rewanna. After the allegations surfaced, he fled to Germany and returned in May following the issuance of a blue corner notice. The court, which examined 23 witnesses, will pronounce the quantum of sentence tomorrow.
