From 3am bone-loading missions and cheeky baboon raids in our hut, to black-backed jackals stealing bones and finally witnessing the Lammergeier’s majestic landing — this is raw adventure, wildlife conservation, and family travel rolled into one story.

The Lammergeier is known as the “bone breaker”, the only bird in the world that feeds almost entirely on bone. With fewer than 300 breeding pairs left in Southern Africa, Giant’s Castle is one of their last strongholds — and the vulture restaurants here play a vital role in helping protect them.
