this very well could be the worst sounding theremin album i have ever heard. it's a remarkable piece of history, a very strong example of electronic music's early and less-discussed commercial side, but the music itself is absolute drudgery. you're given approximately twenty minutes of classic stephen foster minstrelsy performed by a bloated midwestern theatre nerd with a john waters mustache on a somewhat crappy sounding organ and an even shittier, flatter, uglier sounding theremin. here's one of the few redeeming parts of this album's story - according to a website i cannot link due to copyright concerns but which you can find by googling something like "theremin" and "vox", bud ran a pilot-themed(?) restaurant called the Paradise Cafe where you could hear him play the theremin accompanying some 'Kansas City Steaks' - the campy charm just pops off of the webpage. i don't think bud was an evil man, and these are certainly some historically important recordings, but they are also hateful and dull, albeit in a way which was reasonably common at the time (although not uncontroversial). it's a sad thing when the only value a work of art has is posterity.
i do not own the rights to this album and i do not profit from this video, please contact me if you want it taken down
