Zoo Knoxville Helps Western North Carolina Nature Center

Описание: Hurricane Helene had a devastating and historic impact on the southeastern U.S., causing widespread destruction. The Western North Carolina Nature Center in Asheville was among those affected, suffering severe damage to its infrastructure.
In response, Zoo Knoxville quickly deployed a team of 10 professionals, including zoo staff, welders, and arborists, to assist in recovery efforts. Although all animals remained safe, floodwaters destroyed the main access road and bridge, making it difficult to transport supplies and resources.
The team focused on clearing debris, repairing damaged fencing, and rebuilding critical infrastructure to ensure the safety of the animals and begin restoring the Nature Center. Zoo Knoxville continues to support recovery efforts and stands ready to help other facilities in need.
