Police bodycam video shows officer arrest state lawmaker on suspicion of DUI

Описание: Cranston police said Monday that they charged a state lawmaker with driving under the influence.

They said state Rep. Enrique Sanchez, D-Providence, was arrested at 3 a.m. on Reservoir Avenue. They said his car was stopped at a green light.

According to body cam video released by Cranston police, an officer asks Sanchez where he's going.

He said he was coming from a friend's house in Central Falls and going home to Providence.

When the officer tells him he's driving the opposite way from Providence, he said he was going to the highway.

Police said Sanchez smelled of alcohol and had blood shot eyes.

He was held overnight and appeared in court Monday for arraignment.

Sanchez faces additional traffic citations of refusing a chemical test and failure to obey traffic control devices.
