How to Mic a Snare Drum - Top and Bottom

Описание: Capturing a snare drum sound poses a few possibilities when it comes to placing microphones close or more distant. The combinations of mics and how they are mixed can lead to great results, regardless of the input list. This video compares the snare sound with a bottom snare mic and without one.

Bottom line: Snare mics are important, but the drum sound comes from good sounding drums, played by a balanced drummer, a room in which the drums sound good, and mics and pres that capture all of the goodness that's being made. If you have a lot of money, I would focus on overhead mics and preamps.

The close snare mics used in this video (links below) are not expensive, yet they sound great. They sound like the snare drum.
