Описание: LIVE: IIT Bombay Suspends Prof Suryanarayana Doolla Amid Sahil Wakode Death Probe

IIT Bombay has suspended the deanship of Professor Suryanarayana Doolla with immediate effect amid the ongoing investigation into the death of second-year BTech student Sahil Wakode.

IIT Bombay Director Prof Shireesh B. Kedare said that any further action against Prof Doolla will follow the outcome of the investigation. The institute has also apologised for its earlier communication on the case, saying the circumstances leading to the student’s death are still being examined by the appropriate authorities and should not have been characterised before the probe is complete. Prof Doolla will reportedly continue as a faculty member and Head of the Department of Energy Science and Engineering.

The development follows student protests and an FIR linked to allegations made by the student’s family. The case has been transferred to the Mumbai Police Crime Branch for investigation. Allegations remain subject to investigation, and no conclusion should be drawn before the probe is completed.
