FX Impact On Your Trading 212 Investment Portfolio! FOREX Could Be Hurting Your Returns!

What’s up guys! In today’s video I'm going to be digging into the FX Impact on Trading 212 and how it could be adversely affecting your Trading 212 Investment Portfolio!

FX aka FOREX aka Foreign Exchange, is essentially the valuation of different currencies, and when you invest in stocks in different countries, you buy shares in those stocks using the domestic currency of the country in which the stock is listed.

As an example, as a UK resident, if i wanted to invest into Apple (U.S. Stock) my Great British Pounds (GBP) gets converted over into United States Dollars (USD) in order to invest into the company.

So with that, not only am i exposed to the risk of investing into the stock, which may go up or down in value, but i’m also exposed to fluctuations in the value of the USD, which also may go up or down depending on monetary policy, government decisions, market sentiment and a variety of other economic factors!

Due to this, within my own Trading 212 investment portfolio, i’ve seen some big losses on a couple of different positions, especially with the likes of Apple (AAPL), Tesla (TSLA) and Amazon (AMZN), due to the USD devaluing against that of the GBP over most recent months.

In today’s video I wanted to break down the reasons why this happens and what exactly you can do about it to help mitigate the risk of potential FX losses.
