This was the best of about nine takes. I can never be flawless, alas. This song was published in 1911, and recorded many times by famed Scottish comedian Harry Lauder. He co-composed it with Gerald Grafton.
You can hear Sir Harry singing the song in 1911 (only the first two verses though) here: http://www.loc.gov/jukebox/recordings... or here • A WEE DEOCH AN' DORIS by Harry Lauder c.1912
You can download the sheet music here: https://jscholarship.library.jhu.edu/...

The same tune also is used as the fight song for the North Melbourne Football Club (the Kangaroos), who compete in the AFL Australian Rules Football league.
This is a new piano for me; it's a Kimball spinet from probably about the 1950s. I was given it by a couple friends who needed to find it a home, for they had gotten themselves a nice grand piano for their new, bigger home.
It's a nicer piano for me to play than my upright player piano, because, although it doesn't have nearly as rich bass (in fact the spinet's short strings make for a very funky bass), it's A) tuned to concert pitch and B) well regulated, so it's much easier to play.
