Dead Like Me is a Comedy Drama following Reapers that withdrawal the souls from the bodies of those who are to die usually before they die so it's not a horrible shock to the person's soul.
FYI this guy thought he was a freak because he was going in for a sex change operation when he died.
I'm the main character in the show George it's a girl but our personalities are almost exactly the same...except being into men which I do not share ;)
They never show what's after life
Everyone sees something different when the pass on through to the other side
