"MOONRIIVR is a brand new band from Toronto, and the music they play is new, too, although one could be forgiven for thinking otherwise at first glance. This is because the members of MOONRiiVR – who, in all honesty, could be considered an “all-star band” – have managed to achieve that tricky feat of making an album that sounds like it could have been recorded any time in the last 60 years. Listening to their debut album, aptly title Vol. 1, is like entering an unfamiliar room down a long hallway, closing the door quietly behind you, and finding oneself lost in a different world, one where you're not sure whether you're looking forward, backward, or perhaps even into a mirror."
