Where to stay in Cleveland, Ohio after a Brown's, Cavs, or Indian's game is a question out of towners are always thinking!
Right downtown is the answer!
I've stayed at the Aloft Hotels in the East Bank of the Flats for birthdays, game days, and even just staycations. It's in the perfect location, within a block from all the bars and clubs on West 9th, a block walk to all the bars on the East Bank of the Flats, and just a 5 minute scooter ride to East 4th's or 6th's action.
If you're in town for a wedding or game day, you're going to find yourself in The Flats eventually anyways. It's where everyone flocks for the weekend or after a game. Cleveland is rather small and we have a medley of different bars along the way if you choose to skip the Uber surcharges and all that traffic and just walk or scooter your way back to the hotel! (Downtown is known for it's electronic scooters.)
LOCATION
Cleveland is rather small so to get most places it's not more than a ten minute ride from Aloft. The hotel is surrounded by bars and clubs all within a block's radius. They even have a lounge and bar right inside the hotel and Lago is right beneath them, which is usually open late. It's located right off the highway so it's really easy to get back to from either the east side or the west side. It's about 20 minutes to Cleveland Hopkins Airport.
SCENE
Aloft Hotel attracts a medley of different people. I can honestly tell you I've never seen the same kind of people there twice. One time I went it was packed at the bar after a wedding, another time it was all men in business suits doing work in the lobby, and then another time it was empty and we felt like the only ones staying at the hotel! I really like it because they have a pool table, darts, and other games to play in the bar area. They also have a deck which overlooks the action of The Flats. The scene around here really varies from day to day as well. The mix of tourists and locals from the apartments across the street will definitely keep you entertained. On weekends, you can find some good clubs and bars open until 2am around, otherwise places are hit or miss depending on the day. (A lot of places are closed on Mondays.) Especially weekends, The Flats facing side is really loud with Lago's music pumping until 2am, but the city facing side is pretty quiet.
FOOD
There's food everywhere down here. Lago is usually open the latest, but remember you're in Ohio so everywhere closes pretty early - especially for delivery. They do have a 24/7 snack bar in the lobby.
POOL
There's no pool here, but there's a club called FWD in The Flats that has an outdoor pool and pool party.
PARKING
There is paid parking right on property, but you don't get a discount so could be better to park across from Aloft at one of the open aired parking lots.
I like to stay at the Aloft when I stay downtown! It's very modern and new rooms with comfortable beds.
