Before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, many Iranians were not deeply observant of Islam. When the Islamic regime enforced religious practice, the population began to examine Islam more closely. Ironically, the more Iranians learned, the more many began to walk away.

In the late 1990s, persecution intensified. Churches were attacked, believers were kidnapped, and some were killed. Many Iranians fled the country, and some who resettled—particularly in the United States—encountered Christianity, converted, and launched ministries aimed back at Iran.

Through satellite broadcasts and underground networks, the gospel spread rapidly. Between 2005 and 2007, thousands came to faith, sparking a rapidly growing underground church movement inside Iran—one that continues despite pressure and persecution.

What is happening in Iran right now is nothing short of remarkable. This episode offers a rare inside look at a movement that refuses to be silenced.
