Say, for example, you’re out in the field quoting jobs by yourself and your close ratio is 60% on your own without a sales team.

You bid 100 jobs at $15K average job size.

So, that's $1.5M quoted, you close 60% and gross $900K.

Now, let’s say you hire 3 sales people who are out there bidding more jobs...

They each bid 100 jobs for the month at $15K AJS.

Now, you’ve got $4.5M in quotes on the estimating table.

...and since you’ve hired a team you’re close rate dropped to about 40%.

You might be thinking “40%?! I can close 60%+ plus on my own, who in their right mind would hire more people and let their close rate slip???”

This variable scares a lot of contractors and keeps them small.
