Internally displaced people from Kanyangeya primary school and humanist school camps have staged a demonstration by manually channeling river nyamwamba away from its path, following years of forcing them into camps.
Locals alleged that since the government has failed to resettle them and provide food, they have resolved to take matters in their own hands as they attempt to re-channel the river since floods have subsided.
The Kasese district chairperson Eriphazi Muhindi blamed the delay to government bureaucracy in the de-silting process but also called for calm to take centerstage among the aggrieved residents in Kasese.
