WALTZ OF THE WEEK #6 - Ookpik Waltz
Possibly one of the most universally loved fiddle waltzes of all time, this one hardly needs introduction, though there is some fascinating info on Wikipedia about what an Ookpik is, if you curious to discover. The waltz was published in 1965 by the British Columbian fiddler Frankie Rodgers. The chords to this tune are played in several different ways. This version I like to refer to as the "Aubrey Haynie chords" (reference recording is his 2003 release The Bluegrass Fiddle Album).
