Many folks ask me, "how do I discern my anxiety from my intuition?"
When you are in a state of survival mode, your body is particularly charged up because it feels like it's under an attachment threat.
The quickest way to discern anxious neediness from your intuition is to deactivate the attachment system.
In the moment, I recommend the following:
*Put your hands on something solid or sit down and put your back against the wall so you're physically supported.
*Then, conjure a visual anchor in your mind. Usually, this is an image of a safe place and you might even combine it with a mantra.
*While you're doing this, try steadying your breath with deactivating breath.
Box breathing is a good example of this, or simply breathing in through the nose for four counts and out through the mouth for eight counts.
*Then, imagine watching your thoughts and feelings as if they are a river in front of you, breathing evenly until you could find that place of balance again. If that feels impossible, find a safe place and then really EXAGGERATE the emotions and the feelings that you're having until that energy can move through you.
