I take a quick drive out to the Mundaring Weir.
Roughly 40 minutes East of the Perth CBD in the Hills, there is the Mundaring Weir. The only source of water which services Kalgoorlie and several other small regional towns along the way. Completed in 1903, it still operates today as if it was built yesterday.
It is a public access area, however some small restriction areas apply.
Gates close at 6pm in the Summer months and 5pm in the Winter months. Also subject to closure for maintenance or emergency reasons.
It has areas for wheelchair access or for the elderly, however please ensure you find adequate parking on the Northern Side of the Weir. The Southern side is mainly steps and gravel and makes up part of the Bibbulmun Track. Please remember if you see any part of the pipeline leaking, report it to the West Australian Water Corporation.
