Описание: Babylon was a powerful city in ancient Mesopotamia, located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. It was founded around 2300 BC by the Amorites, a group of Semitic people who migrated from the west. The city became a major center of trade and culture, known for its impressive architecture, including the famous Ishtar Gate and the Temple of Marduk. Babylon was also home to many scribes who created clay tablets with cuneiform writing, which told stories, recorded laws, and kept track of business transactions. In 539 BC, the Persian Empire conquered Babylon, but it remained an important city until its eventual decline in the 2nd century AD. Meanwhile, Assyria was a neighboring empire that rose to power around 2500 BC. Its capital, Nineveh, became one of the largest cities in the ancient world, with advanced irrigation systems and impressive palaces. The Assyrians were skilled warriors who expanded their empire through military campaigns, creating a vast network of roads and trade routes. One of the most famous Assyrian kings was Ashurbanipal, who built a great library at Nineveh that contained over 30,000 clay tablets with texts from many different cultures. Although both Babylon and Assyria were eventually conquered by other empires, their contributions to civilization are still remembered today.
