The PM VIKAS (Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan) scheme, launched by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, aims to uplift six minority communities in India by focusing on skill development, women entrepreneurship, and education assistance for school dropouts. The scheme, introduced by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, seeks to empower minority youth by providing skill training in need-based courses and connecting them with employment opportunities.
A major component of this program is offering leadership training to women, helping them gain financial independence and enhance their participation in the economy. The government has mandated a 75% placement rate for candidates completing non-traditional skills courses, including self-employment and apprenticeships.
The program also reserves 3% seats for persons with disabilities. With over 1.4 lakh beneficiaries targeted for training, the PM VIKAS scheme is a significant step toward economic empowerment and social inclusion.
