The chests of Tutankhamun are among the most remarkable treasures discovered inside the young king’s tomb (KV62) in the Valley of the Kings.

These chests were crafted primarily from wood, then richly decorated with gold leaf, ebony, ivory inlays, colored pigments, and intricate carvings that reflect the artistic mastery of the 18th Dynasty.

Used to store the king’s clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, weapons, documents, and ritual items, the chests give us a rare insight into the daily life, tastes, and royal identity of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.

Many of the boxes feature exquisite scenes painted or carved on their surfaces:
