I decided to give Minecraft another shot the other day, having not played it since I was thirteen. Anyway, cue me remembering that the game has paintings, discovering that new ones had been added, getting curious about who made them, doing a bit of research, and putting together this video.
I think my favorite piece by Zetterstrand would have to be “Wanderer” (2008), which appears to reference “Wanderer above the Sea of Fog” (1818) by Caspar David Friedrich.
A close second would be “Pointer” (2008), which seems to draw inspiration from “The Creation of Adam” (1508-1512) by Michelangelo. Along with calling back to a painting Zetterstrand did the previous year called “Fighters”.
