𝗞𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗽𝘂𝗿 (51 𝗚.𝗕.) is a historic and picturesque village established during the British canal colonization era under the 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺. It is located approximately 12 kilometers northwest of 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗶 and 20 kilometers southwest of 𝗗𝗶𝗷𝗸𝗼𝘁. The village has a predominantly Christian population.

The leadership emerging from this village has left a meaningful imprint on Pakistani—particularly Punjabi—politics. At the critical juncture of the creation of Pakistan in 1947, the future of Punjab hung in the balance when the 𝗣𝘂𝗻𝗷𝗮𝗯 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 had to decide whether the province would join Pakistan or India. At that decisive moment, the votes of minority members became exceptionally significant.
𝗚. 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗯, a son of Khushpur and the village numberdar (headman), was among those who represented the Christian community and supported accession to Pakistan. In this historic context, on 23 June 1947, 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗦.𝗣. 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵𝗮, Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, exercised his decisive casting vote, which resulted in Punjab becoming part of Pakistan. This decision played a fundamental role in shaping the geographical and political structure of Pakistan as it exists today.
Another prominent figure from this village was 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗵𝗯𝗮𝘇 𝗕𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶 (𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲), who served as the Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs. He became internationally recognized for his advocacy of minority rights and is remembered for his courageous struggle for justice and equality for his community.

Thus, Khushpur stands not only as a historic settlement but also as a source of leadership that has influenced national history.
