For the CPU in this build I selected AMD's latest budget APU offering, a chip that combines the CPU and GPU in a build, to provide the best performance on a tight budget! The CPU comes in at a base clock speed of 3.5GHz, with a boost clock of 3.7GHz. This means you're going to get some great single threaded performance, key for older titles. The CPU is also a quad core chip, maintaining compatibility with some of the latest AAA titles, and future-proofing this system.

For the motherboard in this build I opted for the ASUS Prime B350M-E, this budget AMD Am4 Ryzen motherboard sits on AMD's higher end B350 chipset, giving you support for overclocking, an on-board M.2 slot, USB 3.1 and dual-channel memory support! It also looks pretty neat with a nice black and red design, and comes in at a good price point!

For the memory in this build I selected 2 x 4GB dimms of 3000Mhz speed Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4. Opting for 2 dimms of memory will work well for AMD Ryzen APUs, as it increases the memory bandwidth available to the graphics portion of the APU. The fast 3000Mhz speed is also key and increases performance massively!

For the storage in this system I selected a 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 3.5" hard drive. This hard drive is cheap, works well and has shown to be very reliable. Whilst it isn't as fast as an SSD, and does have higher data failure rates, it saves a $100+ in this build, and helps to get the best possible performance for the price.

For the case in today's build I opted for the Thermaltake Versa H17 case. This Micro ATX chassis is compact, fits Micro ATX and Mini ITX motherboards and full size ATX power supplies. You also get a large side panel window, USB 3 front panel support and a metal PSU shroud - all for under $40!

Finally, for the power supply in this build I opted for the Thermaltake 500W TR2 unit. This 80+ certified ATX power supply is perfect for this build with over 300W of headroom and cables for a future GPU upgrade!
