I Heard You Sing A Song (Written by Bill)
Bill was challenged to write a song about someone he admired, and he chose Pete Seeger. Pete died 12 years ago today on 27 January 2014

Pete, I sang your song tonight, where have all the flowers gone
What happened to those brave young men, who marched away to war
How many came back home again or still lie in lonely graves
Your songs tried to change their ways so they could wear flowers in their hair
I heard you sing a song for freedom
I heard you sing a song for peace
I heard you sing a song for our troubled earth
Now I’m singing this song for you
Pete, I saw you marching by, with Martin Luther King
Walking slowly hand in hand, singing we shall overcome
You faced Jim Clark and all his bully boys, that day on Selma bridge
Travelling to Montgomery so you could let freedom ring
I heard you sing a song for freedom
I heard you sing a song for peace
I heard you sing a song for our troubled earth
Now I’m singing this song for you
You said, I’d rather put a song on someone’s lips than in their ears
It takes singers to bring songs to life
Make a song your own by singing it
And be proud of the songs that you sing
Pete, you stood on picket lines putting tunes to workers words
Helping people fight for jobs, showing which side you were on
Giving hope to everyone, with your songs and winning smile
Pete, thanks for singing out and making this land yours and mine
