The Norwegian Sea is northwest of Norway between the North Sea and the Greenland Sea.
The Norwegian Sea was formed about 250 million years ago when the Eurasian plate of Norway and the North American plate, including Greenland, began to widen and deepen.
Roch deposits of oil and natural gas are found under the sea bottom. The sea, unlike the Artic Sea, is ice-free throughout the year. The coastal zones are rich in fish that come there for spawning from the North Atlantic or the Brent's sea.
