MJL Contractors Ltd invest in a connected worksite with Leica Geosystems and dealer One Point Survey

Описание: Specialist South West regional groundworks and civil engineering contractor MJL Contractors has invested in a new 'connected worksite' approach using Leica Geosystems 3D machine control from dealer One Point Survey.

Peter Haddock went onsite at a house building project in Westwood Ho! to talk to site manager, Dave Ozels and operator Martin Turner.

Having never used machine control before his new SMTGB supplied Volvo EC220EL arrived onsite in October 2021, fitted with the Leica Geosystems MC1 machine control and Engcon tiltrotator, he has really embraced the technology.

Operator Martin commented: "We have always had something on the ground to follow before, but now you can just go into a field, and the whole model is right there. I have even dug a pond on site where the Leica tablet let me put my offset in. There is no reworking, and it is 100% every time.

"With the tiltrotator, I don't have to jack the track up, as you can level off the bucket just using the engcon."

Talking to Dave about the difference the new setup makes onsite he said: "The cost of fuel is set to rise dramatically with the change from Red to White diesel. With the new Stage V Volvo, engcon and Leica Geosystems machine control we have a very efficient combination that will save on fuel and emissions whilst also being more productive."

In addition to working with the team to install the machine control, Lee Knowles of One Point Survey has also been supporting Kemp Engineering with Leica Geosystems surveying tools. They use them to provide the 3D models to the team at MJL Contractors.
