In the heart of Leicestershire is the small market town of Ashby de la Zouch.
Just a short walk from the main shopping street is the 15th century castle, with free access to English Heritage members, otherwise £7.60 (2022) for adults and £4.60 for children.
The property began as a manor house in the 12th century and with the castle being built in the 15th century.
From Edward IV’s Chamberlain Lord Hastings chapel and Hastings Tower, despite the damage sustained in the Civil War, the property is safe to climb all over - remember to bring good footwear!
